Frequently Asked Questions

Tank size and immersion length, to start with. Then the voltage, wattage, and what liquid you’re heating. That’s the basic list. If you can also send the flange size or thread size, or even just a drawing, it makes our job easier and gets your order right the first time itself.

There’s no fixed answer here; it changes with your tank size and how fast you want the water or oil to heat up. A small tank needs less. A bigger one, or a shorter heating time, pushes the wattage up. Send us the tank size and the temperature you’re targeting; we’ll work out the rest.

Water is common, but not the only option. These heaters go into oil tanks, chemical solutions, and even gas stabilization setups. What changes is the sheath material. Some liquids are corrosive, some aren’t, and the material has to match. So before ordering, just tell us exactly what you’re heating.

It can, if that’s what your setup needs. A lot of buyers add one so the heater switches off once the liquid reaches the set temperature, instead of running non-stop. Useful for safety too. If you want an auto cutoff or a fixed temperature, mention it while placing the order; we’ll fit it accordingly.

Years, generally, if it’s looked after. But the honest answer is it depends on what’s inside the tank. Hard water leaves scale on the element over time, and that scale is what shortens the life. Clean it out once in a while, and the heater keeps performing the way it should.

Nine out of ten times, it’s scale sitting on the element. Sometimes it’s just a loose connection. Start simple, check the power supply and the cord. Still slow after that? The element probably needs cleaning, or if there’s a thermostat fitted, that might be the one acting up.

For a smaller unit with a standard fitting, yes, following the instructions should be enough. But once you’re dealing with a larger industrial heater, especially anything with flange mounting, that’s a different job. Get an electrician involved. It saves you from leaks and loose wiring showing up later.

Not much is needed, really. Check the element and the cord now and then for cracks. If your water is hard, expect scale, and clean it off before it piles up. Keep the connections tight and dry. And never, ever run the heater without enough liquid covering the element.

That’s actually how most of our heaters get made. Standard sizes work for some, but most tanks aren’t standard. Send us the dimensions, or even a drawing if you have one, and we’ll build the heater to fit your tank. Much easier than trying to adjust the tank to fit the heater.

Good quality material is the short answer, stainless steel or Incoloy usually, chosen based on what’s going into the tank. Some liquids are harsher than others, and the material needs to hold up against that over time. Tell us the liquid type at the time of ordering, and we’ll pick what suits it.
