Frequently Asked Questions
280 degrees C for the brass sheath and 350 degrees C for the stainless steel sheath. For high-temperature applications, stainless steel is the right choice. Brass suits lower-temperature molding applications.
Stop the machine immediately. Plastic leaking onto a nozzle heater finds its way into the terminal area and can short the heater or damage the lead wires. Once cooled, remove the heater, clean off all residue, and check the terminal insulation for damage. If the leads or termination area show burn marks or melted insulation, the nozzle heater needs replacing. Fix the plastic leak at the source before reinstalling a new heater.
Brass for general injection molding at lower temperatures. Stainless steel is for higher temperature applications or where better corrosion resistance is needed. Stainless steel also handles a higher surface load, which is useful when more wattage is needed in a compact heater size.
With correct installation and operation within the rated temperature range, service life is long. The main causes of early failure are plastic leakage onto the heater, running above the maximum operating temperature, and poor contact between the heater and the nozzle surface. Avoid these three and the heater lasts considerably longer.
Width, inside diameter, type of termination, construction type, voltage and wattage required, and a drawing or photo if the application is non-standard.
Yes. Extended nozzles are one of the standard applications alongside standard injection and blow molding nozzles.
Metal-braided fiberglass wire terminals. These handle the high temperatures at the termination point better than standard PVC-insulated leads, which is important given how close the terminal sits to the heated nozzle body.
